WWE Raw: 5 huge mistakes WWE made on this week’s episode (June 3, 2019)

Just a few days before the grand Saudi Arabian pay-per-view Super ShowDown takes place, WWE creatives tried their best to come up with a good episode of Raw to build on the rivalries.

The night saw some good promos from men like Randy Orton, Triple H, and most importantly, The Deadman. The chilling promo from the legend ended Raw on a high.

Apart from that, there were quite a few matches that were scheduled for the night, but none except the opening match involving Roman Reigns, The Usos, Drew McIntyre, and The Revival were important enough to build towards the event.

Samoa Joe got back his United States Championship as Rey Mysterio was forced to relinquish it after suffering an injury.

However, WWE made a few too many mistakes in the go-home show of the flagship brand before the Super ShowDown event.

#5 What about The Miz?

The Miz has been one of WWE’s top superstars for over half a decade. The man has done justice to each and every gimmick that has been handed to him and turned it into gold more often than not.

While The Miz was shifted from SmackDown to Raw as part of the Superstar Shakeup, his existence on the flagship brand has been affected by the Wild Card rule. With Roman Reigns and other SmackDown superstars taking the limelight on Raw every week, Miz has found himself underutilized since his feud with Shane McMahon.

We’d seen The Miz become part of the program between Reigns and Shane, but it seems like the creatives have taken a U-turn on whatever they had planned for The A-lister.

Instead of making The Miz feel like an afterthought and just giving him segments to keep him relevant, WWE should really use the extremely entertaining superstar to greater effect.

#4 The build towards WWE Stomping Grounds

Roman Reigns and Shane McMahon have been building on a feud since Reigns delivered a Superman Punch to Vince McMahon. While Reigns’ punishment, a match with Shane, does not sound very severe, it will take place at the Super ShowDown event.

WWE has worked for weeks to build on the match between WWE’s favorite face and their favorite son. Both Raw and SmackDown have been dominated by the build-up of the feud which has seen men like Drew McIntyre, Lance Anoa’i and Elias become a part of it.

Instead of carrying on the war of words for another few days, WWE made a huge mistake this week by already announcing a match between McIntyre and Reigns for WWE Stomping Grounds which has now made the feud just seem like a firestarter for another which should have ended with WrestleMania 35.

Did WWE give away too much by announcing this match?

#3 Another loss for The IIconics

You’ve heard it before, and you’ll keep hearing it again and again.

What good are two champions who cannot win even a single televised match? While we were under the impression that The IIconics were suffering from a similar situation that The Revival was a couple of months ago, it now seems like the situation is even worse.

This week on Raw, Nikki Cross looked to impress Alexa Bliss as she squared off with one-half of the women's tag team champions, Peyton Royce.

This was a clear indication that WWE is trying to build another women’s tag team to compete for the Women’s Tag Team Championship, which is currently held by The IIconics.

In another bad booking decision, Royce lost the match to Cross, further deteriorating the champion team’s credibility. Even though the duo is a heel team, no one can stay credible after so many consecutive losses.

#2 Ricochet and Cesaro’s moment

Ricochet and Cesaro are two superior athletes in the Raw locker room, and after two consecutive weeks of strong in-ring action between them, the two superstars squared off in the rubber match Monday night.

While the match was one of the better ones this week, it was heavily affected by the One and Only’s roll-up win over Cesaro. The booking made things worse between the two superstars, who deserve a much better ending than this.

What made matters worse was the creatives’ mistake of bringing the 24/7 Championship drama in the middle of this feud.

After Ricochet picked up the victory, a furious Cesaro attacked Ricochet. He retrieved a table from underneath the ring but propped on it was 24/7 Champion R-Truth. With Carmella by his side, Truth dealt with Cesaro.

The drama continued as the match between the two great superstars was forgotten, and R-Truth managed to make his way out as the champion.

#1 Too much information

Looks like the creatives haven’t heard of a thing known as ‘too much information’.

While they love to keep fans guessing at times, this week’s Raw was a reminder that they have a tendency of giving away key information of matches much before they should.

This week’s episode of Raw opened up with a segment between Roman Reigns, Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre, where Reigns revealed that at WWE Stomping Grounds, he will square off with The Scottish Psychopath.

This was a questionable revelation, as it is a huge mistake to book a match before the first one has already taken place.

Secondly, Lesnar revealed at the end of Monday Night’s transmission that he will be cashing in his Money in the Bank contract at Super ShowDown, which again takes the element of surprise away. Fans were already expecting that Lesnar would make the trip to The Kingdom and cash-in there, but making the mistake of already revealing it makes things a bit less exciting.
