WWE sometimes goes out of their way to protect their talent, as you guys are certainly well aware. A classic case is Randy Orton interfering in the United States Championship match when the referee was down to help Rey Mysterio become the United States Champion.

The simple fact of the matter is that WWE didn't want either Kevin Owens or Seth Rollins to be defeated in this match. Like it or not, Seth Rollins is the biggest star on RAW with Brock Lesnar's absence, while Kevin Owens will need to become the top babyface if Rollins does indeed go heel in due course of time.

And so this finish happened in the manner that it did to ensure neither man was pinned on WWE RAW. The match ended with a disqualification which is fine, honestly.
