Let me preface this article by saying that I have absolutely no idea about what's under the burlap sack. I'm just a fan of mysteries and whodunits, which is why I'm even considering writing this article up.
Usually, whenever I write a speculative article up, it is based upon rumors and speculation that prevails in the wrestling world. There are no rumors at all about what Rowan is carrying at the moment, and the only thing that we know for sure is that it'll be a very different character he'll be playing from the time that he was Daniel Bryan's intellectual equal or Bray Wyatt's minion.
With that in mind, I invite you guys to leave a comment and let me know what you believe Rowan could have been carrying to the ring. Bear in mind, that knowing WWE's previous booking patterns, the company may not have any clue at the moment what Rowan is carrying inside the cage either.
But therein lies the fun of it, and hence, I will begin this speculative article...
#5 A weapon
Walking Dead fans know just how attached Negan is to Lucille, and I know for a fact that a lot of WWE Superstars are pretty hardcore fans of the Walking Dead franchise. The creepy Tweet I've linked here reminded me of The Governor talking to his daughter, Penny.
Like Negan carries around a baseball bat that is symbolic of his wife, what if Rowan carries a weapon that is symbolic of a previous gimmick or storyline? Maybe it is a shorter version of the mallet that he used during his Bludgeon Brothers run, that he can unleash as a weapon during one of his matches.
Of course, it could be something entirely new. There are many possibilities and Rowan's future is a blank canvas ready to be painted upon.
#4 An animal
I'm guessing that bringing an animal on screen for a segment is a lot more difficult to pull off now than it was during the era of Jake Roberts. But as we've seen in the past, Vince McMahon gets what he wants. While it may be difficult, I'm sure it is not impossible if you consider the fact that Cody's dog made an appearance in AEW.
I'd love to see Rowan as the new Jake Roberts, carrying a snake to the ring. And I wouldn't mind it if WWE does the exact opposite in his case, with him carrying a parrot or a kitten to the ring, something that adds a dimension to his character, a fearsome man with a cute and lovable animal. Remember the time when Scott Steiner came to the ring in Nitro, with an actual tiger?
It's something that's not been done in WWE for a while, and I'd love to see how far up the ladder Rowan could potentially go with this particular gimmick.
#3 A sheep mask
And maybe, he doesn't carry an actual animal in the cage but instead carries a mask that reminds him of the man he once used to be when he was in The Wyatt Family, under Bray Wyatt's terrifying thumb. Maybe when the object is uncovered, we'll see that it contains a sheep mask.
In fact, if there's even a rare chance that Rowan could challenge Bray Wyatt at a Saudi Arabia show, or even at WrestleMania, this is a storyline that I'd be tempted to see. Bray Wyatt exercising his hold over his former protege while Rowan wants nothing to do with it.
Wyatt may be able to elevate Rowan in a manner that others won't be. He is the hottest thing in the business right now anyway.
This is a storyline that could even possibly lead to a pretty feud with his former Bludgeon Brother, Harper.
#2 A customized Championship
People on the internet made much of the fact that even though there was a chance to become the 24/7 Champion, Rowan did not take it. And this is a very interesting point to note, because, despite his size and his strength, Rowan has not been portrayed as an unbeatable monster on WWE television. He wouldn't have been absolutely out of place in the 24/7 Title Picture.
So, maybe this argument is offset by him carrying his very own customized Championship to the ring, maybe with a unique Rowan touch. And why I think this is not outside the realm of possibility is because it can be a collectible for sale in the WWE shop that fans can potentially pick up. We all know that WWE loves its custom Championships.
There can also be Championship matches for this title that are not recognized by the RAW management. If this is the route that WWE decides to travel down, it could make for some very interesting moments.
#1 Balloons
As strange as this possibility may sound to you, think back to the time when Rowan made his special appearance on Talking Smack with Renee Young and Shane McMahon. A brand new character was teased that never took off, but it could be making its way back in line with Rowan's new push.
Rowan played a crazy, demented character on that fateful night who was popping balloons. What if that's what he is carrying inside the cage, and what if that's going to be a part of his gimmick in the days that follow?
One thing is for sure right now. Rowan is getting a pretty big push and in the absence of Braun Strowman on RAW, he is likely to be the resident monster.
Having been a lower card and mid-card player for so very long, I can only say that something like that makes me very happy indeed.
