WWE Raw : Five Talking Points from November 25, 2013

The abduction

The abduction

After a thunderous Survivor Series, the expectations were riding high on the Raw which followed the legendary pay-per-view. And surprisingly enough the show lived up to the expectations and supported the recent claims that the WWE has started to book TV shows like WCW in order to gain upper hand in the broadcast negotiations. From shocking abductions to roaring matches, the show produced a perfect blend of excitement and anticipation in the fans. Here’s a look at the best five talking points that arised from the latest edition of WWE’s golden goose.

The two trains that should meet

Xavier Woods + Kofi Kingston = Excitement x Excitement

Xavier Woods + Kofi Kingston = Excitement x Excitement

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

For the second week in a row, an exciting Xavier Wood found himself securing a good match in the midcard. While the idea of seeing such a good talent going at it in singles competition sounds good, especially after the addition of The Funkadactyls to the equation, the WWE should be looking to make him more of a tag team talent before he is ready for the big push. The boy looked well when teamed with R-Truth but a wrestler who he can successfully team with him would be Kofi Kingston. The fans are showing no interest in Kingston’s feud with The Miz and both of them could split is as soon as possible to concentrate elsewhere. In the current flourishing tag team division, a tag team of Kingston and Woods would just be an awesome addition. And the possibility of such an energetic team itself is a drooling prospect.

Break for the Giant?

Couldn't be any better

Couldn’t be any better

One of the questions that were lingering in the mind of WWE fans after Survivor Series was the direction of the Big Show. The giant lost his championship bout against Randy Orton and ended up witnessing himself being sacrificed for unification of the title. With not many possibilities for a new feud, the creative took the right decision by projecting him as a victim of Orton’s vicious kick. As a result Show could be taken off the Television for some time to let the authority concentrate on John Cena and Orton. If that is their plan, the WWE executed it in the best manner as Show looked like a fighter by coming back every time before his eventual fall. Along with this, his injury also gave the chance for Orton to bring back his deadly move. So to sum up the WWE pulled of an excellent angle if they are planning to give some rest for the Giant.

All matches and no story makes Sandow and Ziggler dull

All that for what?

All that for what?

The two wrestlers who were pushed to the midcard after a stay in the main event has been working exceptionally well for the past two weeks in some hardcore matches. But the amount of sweat and pain they put into the match failed to make a lasting impression in the fan because of the lack of a background story among the two. Sandow and Ziggler showed good chemistry inside the ring and the amount of violence took the fans back to the Attitude Era days, where Raw was highlighted by such matches. Then again it was just like seeing two men bashing each other’s head with some props without any apparent reasons. The WWE should look into the matter and think about adding some sense into the rivalry between the two as it looks exciting with the influence of violence and weaponry.

Superman found his kryptonite

About time

About time

This week’s Raw witnessed one of the most exciting moments in John Cena’s recent appearances as the Champ was shown weak in front of dominant Orton. Now this segment clicked on many levels; primarily, the title is going to be unified, then Orton was seen to be a worthy holder of the WWE championship after taking the fall for the past few weeks. And most importantly it tried to show that Cena was a mere mortal with bloods surging through his veins. The fact that Cena even got jeers from his hometown has urged the creative to do something different with the champ and the direction looks the best as Orton seems to be a worthy opponent that could leave Cena scrambling for his money. The addition of Authority and a backstage screaming from Vince McMahon at Survivor Series only adds up to the feud which is going to produce TLC a memorable pay-per-view.

The Beard and the spear

You ain't going to get a bigger push than that

You ain’t going to get a bigger push than that

Daniel Bryan and CM Punk have emerged as the hottest team in professional wrestling at the moment with their excellent in ring chemistry and fun filled promos. The feud between them and the Wyatts was already at the peak of excitement but was taken to further heights after what went down on Raw. After delivering a superb match in the ring, the feud took an intriguing twist with the involvement of Roman Reigns and Shield. The Survivor Series standout performer speared the hell out of CM Punk who was going to help his partner who was carried out by the Wyatts. Just for some fun, one could speculate that Reigns could be the third partner of the Beard and the Beast because of his touted face change. But the more likely option will be the Authority and their involvement with The Wyatt family. It could be the Authority all along this time calling the shots on Bryan and Punk, and it could also make sense about the “Devil” that Bray mentioned in his initial attack of the duo. Both ways, the feud has turned out to be the best part of Raw in recent times and will continue to make headlines for the coming weeks.
