While the Champion refused to relinquish the title, one individual was certainly relieved of duties in the opening segment of the show.
Brad Maddox, who was a long time authority figure since 2013, will no longer be in charge of Monday Night proceedings as he was fired by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Triple H was upset about the fact that Brad Maddox let Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose be out on the commentary last week, on Raw, which led to a feud between The Shield and Evolution. Evolution could not get the better of their adversaries and Triple H was disappointed with Maddox’s role.
The marching orders were given by Kane who Chokeslammed Maddox before hitting a Tombstone Piledriver to send him out on a stretcher.
Stephanie McMahon announced his sacking after Maddox lay motionless on the floor.
