The post Money in the Bank RAW this week had to answer a lot of questions, especially after a breathtaking PPV the previous night.
Money in the Bank has set the tone for the next few weeks until SummerSlam and it now depends on WWE if they capitalize on the momentum that they have created. By the look of things, WWE seems to have started on the right foot as this week’s RAW seemed to make an interesting show to say the least.
The show had three good matches and the main event beat the others by a fair margin. The match was between RVD and Chris Jericho and when you have to veterans at play the best match is a foregone conclusion. RVD made it to the ring first followed by Jericho after a commercial break.
The most irritating part of the match was the commercials which helped a great deal in making sure the match lost all the momentum that it had gained.
Anyway, RVD and Jericho started the match with a few back and forth wrestling, countering each one’s moves. Jericho hit a dropkick and took down RVD who came back with an equally strong spin kick to the face followed by a moonsault for a two count. Jericho then came back with an enziguri for a two count.
Just when it looked like the match was getting interesting, we went into a commercial.
Back from the break, RVD remained in control and after a few sudden moves, RVD was thrown into the corner. After a few kicks and a missed suplex, Jericho hit a powerbomb for a near fall. RVD tried to counter with a Rolling Thunder but Jericho managed to get out of it only to find himself get hit by a moonsault. RVD looked a tad slow here compared to his usual self.
Jericho then applied an armbar to remain in control as we came back from another commercial and RVD managed to fight out of it. Jericho then hit a running bulldog but failed to connect the lionsault. RVD got a very close fall after a Rolling Thunder.
Jericho then busted RVD’s MITB injury open with a DDT for a near fall. RVD tried another moonsault but missed to find Jericho come back with a lionsault but RVD somehow managed to kick out of it.
Jericho then connected the Walls after he converted RVD’s huricanrana into the submission hold. RVD managed to reach the ring and then after a heel kick connected the Five Star Frog Splash for the victory.
Both these wrestlers, though a tad slower than their usual self, managed to keep the match interesting with the good use of their experience.
Though there were signs of fatigue right from the beginning after a hectic MITB Sunday, these wrestlers showed just why they are a priced asset for WWE even at this age.
