After all the talk, we’re done with Extreme Rules PPV, and merely hours after that, we go to RAW for the fall out of last night. The 1,043rd episode of Monday Night RAW comes to us live from Kansas City, Missouri, as we move ahead towards the next PPV, Payback. And what a night it has been as the entire WWE Universe witnessed history in the making, as new champions were crowned, rivalries escalated and at the end of the night, the COO of the WWE had to be helped back after the beating he received from the beast, Brock Lesnar.
Last night, the WWE champion John Cena took on Ryback in a Last Man Standing match for the WWE title, but at the end of the match, neither man was left standing, as Cena was tended to by the medical personnel and was taken to a hospital. As the match entered its final moments, Cena seemed to have the upper hand, but Ryback ran him through the entrance set up which left both men lying on the ground. Although Ryback was able to walk away on his own two feet, John Cena had to be stretchered out, and since then the WWE has been mentioning how John Cena sustained some serious neck injury and how he refused medical treatment. What condition will the WWE champion be in? What’s next for Ryback? We will get to know tonight!
Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger were involved in an “I Quit” match, and as it looked like Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter came up with an ingenious plan to ensure a victory, their plans were spoiled when a second referee interfered with an instant replay, and when the match was restarted, Alberto Del Rio found his breath back and slapped Jack Swagger, who had nowhere to go and finally uttered the words “I Quit”. This would mean that Alberto Del Rio is now the new number one contender for Dolph Ziggler’s world title. How will the show off respond to ADR being his new threat for the title? What condition will Ziggler be in? We will get our answers in a few hours.
The hounds of justice captured their first piece of gold when the team of Rollins and Reigns defeated Team Hell No to end their run as the WWE tag team champions, and are now the most dominant individuals in the company. How will Kane and Daniel Bryan respond to their loss? What or who can stop The Shield now? Also, the other member of The Shield tasted his first individual success on the main roster, as Dean Ambrose defeated Kofi Kingston to become the new United States champion! With all the members now holding gold, what’s next for The Shield? Will they turn to some other superstar to deliver their definition of justice? How will the WWE Universe respond to The Shield’s success? This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW promises to be very interesting!
Randy Orton and Sheamus won their respective matches last night, defeating the Big Show and Mark Henry respectively. What’s next for the Viper? Will he turn his attention to some other superstar? We know the rivalry between Sheamus and Henry is far from over. How will Henry respond to his loss? A rematch is almost a certainty, as Mark Henry would be eager to settle the scores during the next PPV.
Chris Jericho faced Fandango in their second match, and this time, the veteran was cautious and wasn’t complacent like the last time at WrestleMania. Chris Jericho finally shut Fandango up by picking up an impressive victory against the rookie, and taught him a thing or two about dancing with the big guns inside the ring. How will Fandango respond to his first pin–fall loss in the WWE? Will we get to see these two going toe to toe once again? Things are heating up as we now move ahead towards Payback PPV.
The final match of the night saw COO of the WWE taking on “The Pain”, Brock Lesnar. Although Lesnar dominated in the early going of the match, a small miscalculation saw Lesnar hurting his knee, which Triple H took advantage of. Lesnar’s manager Paul Heyman made sure his presence was felt, as he tried to interfere in the match, but got a pedigree for his troubles, but Heyman ended up giving a low – blow to Triple H, which enabled Lesnar to get the victory. By the end of the night, Lesnar left on his own two feet, while Triple H had to be helped to the back. How will Triple H respond to the loss? Did we see the end of their heated rivalry?
