#1 AJ Styles retains the US Championship
WWE has been unpredictable regarding the booking of their titles in recent times. Less than a month ago, we couldn't predict Seth Rollins beating Brock Lesnar cleanly in the center of the ring to win the Universal Championship.
Later, more bookings came out of nowhere. Firstly, the OC surprisingly won the Tag Team Championship just weeks after Luke Gallows and Kyle Anderson's union with AJ Styles. Then, the two big men lost their titles to the temporary alliance of Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins.
Things have been unpredictable.
There were chances that Strowman would walk out as the new United States Champion on Monday as he battled AJ Styles. However, better senses prevailed and Styles retained his title. Though Styles, faking an injury in theatrical circumstances, won the match via disqualification, the result was the right one.
Though there would be critics of Strowman singlehandedly obliterating the OC, his permanence gives him momentum before his Universal Championship match against Rollins while Styles needs to move on to a meaningful story.
