#4. WWE rejects Kairi Sane's request to return for a match at Stardom show
Kairi Sane was written off WWE TV in July 2019. The former NXT Women's Champion would return to Japan to be with her husband following an emotional WWE farewell.
Kairi Sane is still under contract with WWE as she is the company's brand ambassador in Japan. It has now been revealed by Dave Meltzer that there were plans for Sane to make her in-ring return at Stardom's 10th Anniversary show.
Stardom originally wanted her to compete in a big singles match at the show. An idea for Kairi Sane to appear in Stardom's All-Star Rumble match was also pitched. The final decision, however, was ultimately left to the WWE. Sane was unfortunately unsuccessful in getting the green signal to do the Stardom show.
"Even though she asked, Kairi Hojo (Kairi Sane) was unable to get WWE permission to do the show. They had left it up to WWE. They wanted her in a big singles match but also offered WWE having her do a Rumble with legends."
There was a report going around months ago that Sane had the intention to wrestle after she came back to Japan. Meltzer noted that Sane still has time left on her WWE contract, and there are presently no updates on her in-ring future.
"Sane is still under contract to WWE and works as a Japanese ambassador. There had been talk of her working for Stardom when she returned to Japan after getting married, but she still has time on her deal."
Kairi Sane is still 32 years old, and she will indeed wrestle again someday. However, will it happen at a WWE show or in another company? Only time will tell.
