Original plans for Bray Wyatt before Goldberg loss
'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt dropped the Universal title to Goldberg at Super ShowDown, leaving the majority of the WWE Universe frustrated. The decision was not well received but it looks like it was all done to protect another Superstar – Roman Reigns.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter report that the plan was to have Roman Reigns end the streak of The Fiend. However, a move like that at WrestleMania would have made it difficult for the former Shield member to win over the fans.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that original plans called for Bray Wyatt to run through everyone and Roman Reigns to be kept away until a big match at WrestleMania. Obviously those plans changed. That idea could still happen later on in some form.
Instead, it looks like WWE have put the title on Goldberg to protect Reigns from the heat. The WWE Universe were not happy when he defeated The Undertaker a couple of years back and a similar reaction might have been anticipated by the creative team.
