In 2000, ECW Champion Taz went one-on-one against WWE Champion Triple H on SmackDown. However, the match did not last more than 5 minutes as The Game made quick work of Taz.
While speaking on his podcast - Grilling JR - Jim Ross revealed that the reason why Taz was buried was due to his size, which is the reason for him not being popular with the front office.
"It didn't do it any favors, killed might have been a strong word," Ross said. "It didn't help anybody except Hunter got a nice win in Philadelphia. Taz was so underutilized when we hired him in WWE. For whatever reason, he was never in political favor. Hunter is 6'4, Taz is under 6 foot. The perception was, even though Taz could snuff out on 99% of the guys on the roster, that he's not convincing. (H/t: WrestlingInc)
Jim Ross further added that he had considered getting Taz into WWE a major win as he was a fan of Taz's work in ECW. Ross stated that people percieved Taz as a human suplex machine in ECW and that Paul Heyman (who was in-charge of ECW) knew how to book him well.
