Daniel Bryan took on Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Fastlane. The match saw Edge serve as the special enforcer. Edge ultimately got involved in the match and cost Daniel Bryan a chance to become the new Universal Champion.

After Daniel Bryan accidentally hit Edge with a chair, The Rated R Superstar exacted revenge and seemingly turned heel. As per Brian Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer, the match between Edge and Roman Reigns will now be turned into a 3-way match with Daniel Bryan being added to the mix.
