Isn't it odd that The Rock will make a UFC appearance but has not yet confirmed his status for WWE's biggest SmackDown show of the year on October 4th?
Dave Meltzer opened up about The Rock's status on the Wrestling Observer Radio and said that The Great One will be present at SmackDown's momentous occasion if his schedule permits him to do so.
Meltzer added that The Rock only committed to the UFC appearance after checking his schedule. However, his appearance for WWE on October 4th is still up in the air as of this writing.
WWE's SmackDown premiere on Fox on October 4th is set to be a star-studded affair as the company will also celebrate the blue brand's 20th anniversary at the show.
Legendary figures such as Hulk Hogan, Sting, Booker T, Kurt Angle, Ric Flair, Goldberg, Lita, Trish Stratus, Jerry Lawler, Mark Henry and Mick Foley have already been advertised to make appearances.
However, what about the man who helped create the SmackDown brand? The Rock has to be there right?
#5. Shawn Michaels opens up about his rumored match against Dolph Ziggler
Shawn Michaels' role in the SummerSlam feud between Dolph Ziggler and Goldberg - which also involved The Miz - was always seen as the build-up towards a match between the Showoff and the Heart Break Kid.
However, that was never the plan according to HBK.
During his appearance on the State of Combat Podcast, Michaels said that the plan was always to have Goldberg vs. Ziggler and that he was just 'brought in to light up Ziggler's fuse'.
"I never know when the phone call is going to come and I'm going to jump on a plane. I was just sort of doing what I was asked to do. If nothing else, with all these years later, after 30 years, I'm a pretty good employee. I just do what I am told, so to speak. It was fun to do but there was absolutely no thought of me and Dolph or anything like that. It was always going to be Bill Goldberg, but perhaps they needed somebody to light the fuse for Dolph Ziggler in that respect and I was the guy to do it as best as I could." H/t Credit: WrestlingInc
