Bliss has promised to humiliate Bayley in front of her hometown fans, particularly singling out the ‘Huglord’s’ father, emphasising that she’ll beat Bayley for the RAW Women’s title and embarrass her in front of her friends and family.
In case you didn’t know...
The betting odds for this championship match have seen a monstrous shift within the span of a few hours today. Between 3 am and 7:35 am ET today, betting odds shifted from Bayley being a 36-to-1 favourite to win the match, to Bliss becoming a 45-to-1 favourite.
It’s essential to note that although the oddsmakers are favouring Bliss to defeat Bayley at Payback, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Bliss will win the title. In other words, Alexa may emerge victoriously say via count-out or by getting Bayley disqualified – in which case despite getting the W, she won’t win the title.
Furthermore, such a gigantic shift in odds has led to a lot of money coming in on the current underdog Bayley between 11 am and 1:45 pm today.

The heart of the matter
It isn’t usually until we get really close to the event that we get to see such long betting odds, given the fact that the final decision of most matchups aren’t known among the WWE insiders until it’s close to show time.
The norm is professional wrestling is to make the hometown favourite look strong, by having them put on a winning performance in order to play to the crowd. With that in mind, fans shouldn’t be surprised if Bayley puts on a dominant performance en route to a victory against the villainous Bliss in front of the former’s friends and family. However...
Several pro-wrestling experts unanimously agree on the notion that Vince McMahon is an out-and-out contrarian as far as booking the outcomes of the matches in pro-wrestling is concerned. McMahon is well-known for booking the hometown heroes to be beaten and humiliated in front of their friends and family – something that’s usually considered a strict no-no among professional wrestling promoters.
In this scenario, the hometown hero Bayley, who is one of the most beloved WWE Superstars today, may be booked in a similar manner. Bliss is one of the most ‘over’ heels in WWE right now, and booking her strongly in a performance against RAW’s top female babyface will garner her insane amounts of heat in the weeks following Payback.
What’s next?
Bayley defends her WWE RAW Women’s title against Alexa Bliss at WWE Payback this Sunday at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. Bliss could become the first women to win both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s titles consecutively – a feat which Charlotte has yet failed to conquer.
