Fans all over the world are still coming to grips with what happened at Survivor Series. After being away for over a decade, Bill Goldberg made his epic return in dominating fashion, defeating Brock Lesnar in less time than it took for him to make his trademark entrance.
No matter what he achieves from this point forward, the record books will always show that Brock Lesnar lost to Goldberg in a humbling one minute, and 26 seconds. So, what exactly was the reasoning behind such a surprising event? Who's idea was it to make the Beast appear as if he was a local competitor, just chasing a quick paycheck?
Well, there have been a plethora of rumours, but just recently, some new developments have surfaced, which may give us some of the answers we are looking for.

Since the surprising outcome, many have speculated why things actually transpired the way they did. The biggest question of the year is why would a 50-year-old return after a 12-year hiatus, and then destroy the top name in the entire industry, in a one-sided, record timed contest?
Well, some sources, including the Wrestling Newsletter Observer, say that the original plan was actually to have Goldberg just return for the one appearance at Survivor Series, and lose to Brock Lesnar. However, due to the sudden dip in ratings, Vince decided to take a step back and reevaluate the situation.
In the end, the decision was made finally made, by Vince himself, to not only have Goldberg win the match but to keep him around for the foreseeable future. This news comes as a surprise to many, considering the monetary demands Goldberg once had, for him to consider a return.
It's also worth noting that there were several people backstage, in Vince's ear, pleading with him to go with the original plans of having Lesnar go over against Goldberg.
