This past week’s viewership of SmackDown was amongst the lowest this year. The hopes that WWE harbor for the show following the brand split just might have received a shot in the arm.
It is reported by the Wrestling Observer that the Brock Lesnar might return for the WWE Draft on the July 19th episode of SmackDown. There was a similar report perambulating the IWC earlier, but the source was believed dubious.
The rumor was reported on June 27th and was from the same source that reported that next year’s Royal Rumble will take place in Los Angeles and that tickets were available. Those rumors were denied by the WWE.
The possibility of Brock Lesnar appearing on that day’s episode of SmackDown is hypothetically high, considering that his UFC bout will take place on July 9th . Lesnar goes into his bout with Mark Hunt as a betting underdog.
Lesnar’s last MMA fight was in December 2011, a TKO loss to Alastair Overeem. Controversy followed when it was revealed that Overeem tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone before the fight.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion announced his retirement following the loss, closing the book on an eight-fight MMA career, the latter half of which was bedevilled by illness.
