WWE Rumors: Decision behind 'Chicago Screwjob' at Payback revealed

At least they got this

The female performers in the WWE should be worried, looking at the angles that have so far played out in the Women’s Division. The bootleg of the Montreal Screwjob seemed a feeble attempt to sweep some sympathy for Natalya, a perfectly capable performer who should be a central character in the plans for the cast in the coming months.

So why did the WWE decide to evoke one of wrestling’s history’s darkest moments in the presence of its original victim, now a cancer survivor making his first televised appearance after beating the beast?

Most likely to garner heat for Charlotte, who is a WWE A-Lister in terms of ring work and whose character has only been fortified by all that’s happened. According to cagesideseats.com, the plan received a nod last Friday, two full days before the PPV and wasn’t as faithful to the original as depicted.

There are reports that WWE actually considered introducing an angle where Ric Flair would be banned from ringside, a consequence of his supposed drunken shenanigans at Boston airport. Security were summoned to becalm him and Flair was reportedly treated for a cut as well. His manager dismissed the claims, saying that Flair was completely sober but pictures surfaced showing a man in the hotel bar with his back to the camera.
