It has been reported that WWE Hall of Famer Jerry 'The King' Lawler recently signed a new three-year contract with WWE earlier this month. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jerry Lawler broke out this news at the recent GalaxyCon event held at Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Lawler recently rejoined the WWE RAW commentary team as a color commentator on September 26, 2019, along with Vic Joseph and Dio Maddin. The veteran commentator previously stated that his role as a RAW commentator is not supposed to be long-term.
The King explained that he was brought in as a commentator to help the new team of Vic Joseph and Dio Maddin to adjust to the bigger stage with his veteran expertise, especially Maddin who has never announced before. Maddin has been absent from WWE television for a few weeks to sell the storyline of Lesnar attacking him after he stood up to The Beast Incarnate when he was going to attack Lawler.
WWE Superstar Samoa Joe, who has been absent from in-ring competition in recent weeks as he is still recovering from a finger injury, replaced Dio Maddin on commentary on the last episode of RAW.
Jerry Lawler's career in WWE
Even though Lawler never won a World Championship in WWE, he is held in high regard by most fans and pundits for his wrestling knowledge and years of expertise as a commentator.
