What's the story?
As we previously reported, Kofi Kingston announced he could not compete at the WWE Live Event at Glens Falls, New York due to an injury. He was originally scheduled to wrestle in a tag match against the B-Team. Kofi had suffered the injury the night before in Binghamton, New York. Thankfully, the injury doesn't seem to be serious as we originally had thought.
In case you didn't know...
Kofi Kingston is the current WWE Champion for the SmackDown Live brand. He previously was involved in a feud with Dolph Ziggler, in which he successfully defended his championship against at Super Showdown and Stomping Grounds. Samoa Joe has stepped up to the plate and will be the next contender for the WWE Championship. Arguably, this will be Kofi Kingston's biggest challenge to date.
The heart of the matter
As noted in the above, Kofi Kingston suffered an undisclosed injury while competing at a WWE Live Event in Binghamton, New York. He wrestled and defeated Dolph Ziggler at the event and was noticeably injured. WrestlingINC provided an update from one of their correspondents indicating the injury isn't severe and Kofi should be good to go for Extreme Rules.
What's next?
Kofi Kingston will be defending his WWE Championship against Samoa Joe this Sunday at Extreme Rules. The match is still officially on. Kofi will likely be appearing in some capacity on SmackDown Live tonight. There are rumors floating around that WWE may add another stipulation to the match, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.
