What's the story?
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Brock Lesnar is set to defend the Universal Championship against Braun Strowman in either June or July. These rumours come hot on the heels of the confrontation between the two men on the Raw after WrestleMania 33.
In case you didn't know...
Following his victory over Goldberg at WrestleMania, many fans were wary of the fact that Brock Lesnar wouldn't be around all too much to defend his newly won Universal Title. Thankfully, it seems like he'll be around more than we thought with a number of potential challengers from the Raw brand heading into the summer months.
The heart of the matter
The report does indeed suggest that Lesnar vs. Strowman will take place in June or July, meaning that there are two likely destinations for this match to take place. First off there is Extreme Rules in Baltimore, with Bad Blood in Hartford coming just over a month later.
Also, the report indicates that Reigns vs. Lesnar for the title at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans is still the plan. Furthermore, the report also noted that Reigns and Lesnar will not face each other until then.
What's next?
With a few months remaining until the aforementioned pay per views, it seems as if we're heading towards Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman in some kind of number one contender's match at Payback.
It seems like the most logical step forward considering how all three men involved have been booked, and it opens the door for a number of intriguing possibilities.
Author's take
The Universal Championship picture is a lot more exciting heading into SummerSlam than anyone could have imagined, as Lesnar has a huge target on his back now that he's the champion once again.
