Paige made her much-awaited return to Monday Night RAW this week, only to receive a rude shock from her now-former associate Asuka - who sprayed Paige with the green mist she is becoming infamous for.
The former NXT Women's Champion was last seen as the on-screen manager of the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) before she had to take leave to tend to her injury issues. Even though Paige has been out of in-ring action ever since 2017, she has made appearances in multiple roles for WWE television, including a stint as the SmackDown General Manager.
Although the general belief was that Asuka 'attacked' Paige only to get herself and Kairi Sane some heel heat, reports are stating that the angle could lead to Paige's in-ring return and a match against The Empress of Tomorrow.
Paige vs Asuka
Here is what Cagesideseats has reported:
There’s been talk of WWE setting up Paige for an in-ring return with the segment with Asuka on RAW this week but it doesn’t appear as though anything has changed with her potentially wrestling again.
A Paige in-ring return would be massive for the Women's Division, and even though the 27-year-old may have to work lighter matches given her history with injuries, it will still be a major boost for the Women's Evolution.
The former Diva's Champion had officially 'retired' from in-ring action on the RAW after WrestleMania 34, however, it is not uncommon for Superstars to come out of their retirement, especially if it was a forced retirement owing to injury - the most recent example being Daniel Bryan.
Paige was as important as any other female athlete in the advent of the 'Women's Revolution' in WWE, and it would be great to see her finally back inside the ring doing what she does best!
