What's the story?
We are on the road to WrestleMania 35 as storylines are being cast and new champions will emerge.
For a while, there have been rumours about women headlining WrestleMania, and this could be the year that it will happen, as per Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio.
He reports that Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey, and Becky Lynch will be involved in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 35.
In case you didn't know...
The trio of Flair, Rousey, and Lynch teased a feud when Rousey attacked Lynch and Flair at TLC, the last WWE PPV of 2018, resulting in Asuka winning the SmackDown Women's Championship.
Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey were supposed to face each other at Survivor Series in a champion vs champion match, but Nia Jax busted open Lynch prior to Survivor Series and she wasn't medically cleared to wrestle. Lynch was replaced by Flair in the match, and The Queen got herself disqualified when she attacked Rousey with kendo sticks and chairs.
The heart of the matter
Meltzer has reported that the main event at WrestleMania 35 will be a triple threat match between Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey, and Becky Lynch.
He says that the reason the Royal Rumble match was changed was because WWE want to make it a triple threat match at WM35.
"The three-way women’s match, if it’s gonna be the main event, is solid but it’s not a done deal but it is the working idea. That is why the Royal Rumble match was changed. That is why Sasha Banks is getting the title shot completely out of nowhere. Originally it was going to be Charlotte and Ronda Rousey at the Rumble and Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch at WrestleMania," said Dave Meltzer. (H/T WrestlingNews.co for the transcription)
What's next?
At Royal Rumble, we will see Becky Lynch take on Asuka for the SmackDown Women's Championship, while Ronda Rousey will defend her RAW Women's title against Sasha Banks.
