Ryan Satin of ProWrestlingSheet recently broke the news that Mike and Maria Kanellis have allegedly requested their release from the WWE, making them among the first WWE Superstars to consider leaving the company for pastures new this year.
In case you didn't know...
The news of Mike and Maria Kanellis signing for WWE was met with confusion by many who simply didn't see a place for the duo in an already bloated roster. Things were further complicated by Maria's pregnancy and Mike Kanellis' successful drug rehabilitation, both of which saw them off television for long amounts of time.

The pair has most recently been seen sparingly on 205 Live. Something that both Mike and Maria Kanellis have been vocal about on social media.
The heart of the matter
Ryan Satin of ProWrestlingSheet reports the following,
Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned Mike and Maria Kannellis recently asked for WWE officials to release them from their contracts.
Sources tell us the Kanellis’ have been unhappy with the way they’ve been used in WWE for awhile and finally made the decision a few weeks ago to request their releases.
Mike Kanellis has also once again started selling new shirts on Pro Wrestling Tees.
This certainly won't come as a surprise to many with neither Mike nor Maria Kanellis being used much by WWE, especially with the above tweets from both of them.
It's unclear whether or not the WWE has granted the request, although several WWE Twitter tipsters like Rovert and Casey Michael from Squared Circle Sirens have alleged that the WWE denied the request
What's next?
It would seem that the Kanellis' will be made to sit out their WWE contracts but when they do expire it seems that All Elite Wrestling is the obvious move for the pair, given the relationship they already have with the guys in charge there and this rather obvious tweet from Mike Kanellis recently.
