Spring cleaning might be done, but the WWE haven’t quite finished thinning the herd. A number of WWE contracts will expire this month, some already having run out in June, and the people in question might not be clamouring to have them renewed.
Dailywrestlingnews.com reports that contracts of a handful of lower and mid-card talents are being low-balled on their downside guarantee. Some aren't even expected to be offered contracts, hence the speculation in the passage above.
The man behind the decision is rumored to be Triple H. The 46-year-old executive is determined to clear some space on the roster for talent that he intends to import from NXT before SummerSlam. The extent to which these plans will materialise is unknown because Vince McMahon will have the final say.
This hasn’t escaped the Superstars who will potentially be affected, but there aren’t any murmurings yet. How long will it stay that way? Not long, it is thought. Superstars like Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett asked for their releases before their contracts expired.
One name who is a certainty on the list is former Intercontinental Champion Ryback. The WWE and he have been incommunicado since his contract dispute in May and it is expected that they are just waiting for the clock to run out before showing him the door.
