WWE Rumors: No "official" statement regarding The Undertaker's retirement

Could WWE have given The Undertaker a better send off?

What’s the story?

The Undertaker moved the crowd at the Citrus Bowl to tears when he left his gear in the ring. The Deadman's symbolic retirement has been semi-formal until now. And if reports are to be believed, it will remain so a long time. According to Cageside Seats, there will be no official statement regarding Taker’s retirement.

In case you didn’t know...

On April 2nd, the entire WWE Universe was moved to tears when The Undertaker symbolically retired after his match at WrestleMania 33. The crowd present in the Citrus Bowl arena was on its feet to pay tribute to The Phenom’s legendary career. While there were whispers about a potential retirement, very few were prepared for it.

According to Cagesideseats, there are no plans for an “official” statement because both The Deadman and WWE believe that the segment in Orlando came off perfectly. In fact, the segment fits with the mystical nature of The Undertaker.

Reactions

The Undertaker’s symbolic retirement drew a very emotional response from the professional wrestling fraternity.

Author’s take

Purely from a speculative stand, the send off also provides WWE with a leeway to include The Undertaker persona in any other storylines. But considering that Taker is an old warhorse like Shawn Michaels, it is hard to imagine him making a return after such a massive statement. It is very likely that this was The Deadman’s last stand in a WWE ring.

What do you think about The Undertaker’s retirement? Do you think there should be a more official statement from WWE? Sound off in the comments below.
