WWE Rumors: Reason The New Day are still the Raw Tag Team Champions

The New Day have been crowd favourites for quite a while now

According to a report from CageSideSeats.com, The New Day are set to break the record for the longest tag team championship reign in WWE history created by Demolition, who retained the title for as many as 478 days back in the late 1980s.

This is also perhaps the reason they have been stressing even more on their Raw appearances, about the number of days left for them to eclipse the record.

However, once they have achieved this feat, the same report states that it is likely that The New Day will eventually lose their titles, as there will be little more left for them to achieve in the tag team division. So it is likely that we may see the Raw Tag Team title change hands at the next exclusive Raw pay-per-view, Roadblock.

The New Day became the second team to be eliminated from the 10-on-10 tag match between Team Raw and Team Smackdown at the Survivor Series. However, the Red brand’s team still managed to pick up the victory, as the duo of Cesaro and Sheamus ended up being the sole survivors in the match.

The following week on Raw saw The New Day defend their title against Cesaro and Sheamus and it was expected that their dream run would finally come to an end. A distraction from Xavier Woods, though, saved the day for them and they were able to remain Raw Tag Team Champions.

On this Monday’s episode of the show, the champions squared off against Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson with their title on the line once again. Although Gallows and Anderson dominated most of the match, Woods managed to pin Anderson by grabbing his tights and secured the win. Here is a video clip of the encounter between the two teams:
