WWE Rumors: Reason why the Superstar Shake-Up wasn't called a draft

The Superstar Shake-Up was held this past week on RAW and SmackDown LIVE

What's the story?

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this past week's Superstar Shakeup was termed as such because the chairman of the WWE, Vince McMahon, didn't like the word draft.

In case you didn't know....

This past week, WWE held a Superstar Shakeup on both RAW and SmackDown, wherein, a selected few Superstars from both brands changed sides. RAW Superstars such as Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Charlotte, Jinder Mahal, and The Shining Stars moved to SmackDown.

While, SmackDown Superstars such as The Miz, Dean Ambrose, Apollo Crews, Kalisto and Bray Wyatt, among others, shifted to RAW.

The heart of the matter

Vince has shown the tendency to change things up because he dislikes certain words in the past as well. The most recent example of this would be the fact that he demanded that all on-screen personnel refer to the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, by its previous name, the Citrus Bowl.

What's next?

The WWE Chairman's newfound hate for the word draft may lead to the word being completely erased from WWE's dictionary.

Author's take

Calling the draft a Superstar Shakeup shouldn't affect anybody's viewing experience because it's just a name change. Similarly, calling a stadium by its former name isn't wrong either. The names of the arenas barely matter to the fans at home. These modifications are pretty unnoticeable.

It's Vince McMahon's show and he can call it whatever he wants. Vince changes the outcomes of matches minutes before a PPV, so it wasn't particularly surprising to me when I heard that he began hating the word draft.
