What’s the story?
The Wrestling Observer has noted that it’s possible that the WWE may hold off on having Roman Reigns wrestle at the upcoming pay-per-view, Payback.
In case you didn’t know...
Earlier, it was confirmed that Roman Reigns suffered a separated shoulder and other internal injuries. He was attacked by Braun Strowman last week on Raw and it was this attack that led to the storyline injuries.

However, despite being injured, Reigns made his return at a recent WWE Live event. Reigns went on to spear Braun Strowman through a table as well. Reigns did sport a cast on his left shoulder, but his return was a big surprise to many fans.
The heart of the matter
The rumour suggests that WWE is considering not having Reigns wrestle at Payback. Reigns was expected to face Strowman at the pay-per-view as per reports. But if we go by this rumour, this match could be called off.
As we mentioned earlier, Reigns was attacked by Strowman during last week’s Raw. WWE officially claimed that Reigns suffered numerous injuries. Making Reigns miss Payback could be WWE’s way of selling these injuries.
What’s next?
If Reigns is supposed to miss Payback, expect him to be absent from the upcoming episodes of Raw. Strowman has a lot of momentum after his attack on Reigns and would need a new feud if Reigns is being kept away.
Interestingly, Brock Lesnar is not scheduled to appear in the lead up to Payback. So a potential Lesnar – Strowman feud is unlikely to happen as well.
Author’s take
Allowing Reigns to take an extended break will be good for Strowman. Sidelining Reigns makes Strowman looks good. If WWE is planning to have a Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman match in the near future, such a booking decision is perfect.
But at the same time, Strowman vs. Reigns is one of the hottest feuds on Monday Night Raw right now. If WWE keeps it away from Payback, it could be a major loss.
