What's the story?
The Undertaker is a living legend and an icon of the squared circle. As one of WWE's stalwarts over the last three decades. However, after all these years, it now looks like The Deadman may be getting ready to hang his boots and we have a big update on his current status with the WWE.
In case you didn't know...
The Undertaker is in the midst of winding down his in-ring career and his last two matches came at WWE Crown Jewel and then at WWE Super Showdown in 2018. With WrestleMania just months away it does not look like The Deadman will be wrestling on that night.
However, 'Taker is available for bookings at $25,000 for an hour and $60,000 for three. He will also be appearing at Starrcast later this year.
The heart of the matter
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave us an update on The Undertaker's situation with WWE, suggesting that the Deadman's in-ring career may be over:
“At least as of a week ago he was not doing either (WrestleMania or Saudi Arabia) and obviously WWE can panic and the Saudi Arabia show. If the prince wants him they can offer him so much money to do it but as of a week ago he was not on either show. So I think he’s retired as a wrestler.”
From Meltzer's quotes on the matter, it does indeed look like The Undertaker will not be in a match at WrestleMania 35. However, I still think that he needs one FINAL WWE match, after which there will be no returns or matches at special shows in Saudi Arabia or elsewhere.
What's next?
It is unlikely that The Undertaker will have a match at WrestleMania 35 but we will have updates if any news breaks on the subject. I think that some of us, including myself, definitely expect 'Taker to wrestle at WrestleMania 35 so this comes as a slight shock.
