Three weeks ago on RAW, Shane McMahon declared a tournament to determine the #1 contenders for the WWE Tag team Championship, held by the New Day. Simon Gotch and Aiden English, known as the Vaudevillains and the team of Enzo and Cass were the last two teams left.
Although the Vaudevillains reached the finals of the tournament, they failed to impress some of the backstage officials and their gimmick apparently failed to connect with the fans. Allwrestlingnews.com reports that the Chairman, Vince McMahon is unhappy with the Vaudevillains as he believes that the throwback gimmick of Gotch and English is ‘stupid’.

Vince is not that big a fan of NXT. Some of the NXT talents, who were much popular in their NXT tenure, failed miserably to connect with the fans of WWE’s main roster. This list includes Tyler Breeze, The Ascension, Bo Dallas, Adam Rose. He feels that NXT doesn’t focus enough to develop a suitable gimmick for a wrestler and hence that gimmick fails on the main roster.
The Vaudevillains were not that much over with the NXT following either and it is rumored that they were called up only due to their long stay in NXT. With the match at Payback ending in No Contest, it is worth wondering whether they get another shot at the title or not.
