What's the story?

The WWE United States Championship match between Rey Mysterio and Samoa Joe at WWE Money In The Bank ended in mere minutes.

It is being reported by PWInsider that WWE decided to immediately call the match after blood began pouring out of Joe's nose.

In case you didn't know...

Tonight's Money In The Bank PPV was one for the ages. The show was chock full of incredibly executed high spots as well as its fair share of surprises. Bayley cashing in her newly won Money In The Bank briefcase and Brock Lesnar coming out as Sami Zayn's replacement were the highlights of the event.

The heart of the matter

Amidst the hullabaloo, the United States Title match ended up confusing fans. The bout between Rey Mysterio and Samoa Joe ended in quick fashion, with Mysterio countering a Powerbomb into a Huricanrana to steal the pin. It's worth noting that one of Joe's shoulders was up during the three count, and the referee clearly missed it, which would likely come into play on this week's SmackDown Live.

After taking a Senton from Rey Mysterio in the middle of the bout, Joe's nose opened up and blood began pouring out of it. The match ended almost immediately after that. PWInsider says that WWE decided to finish off the match as soon as Joe got hurt, although they managed to play out the planned ending for the contest.

What's next?

It's clear as day that this rivalry is far from over. Joe won at The Show of Shows, and Rey evened the score tonight. Fans should expect a rubber match between the two at a future event.
