What's the story?
Circulating reports have revealed that WWE contracts of the Hardy Boyz will be expiring at the beginning of April. The fans have begun speculating about their future with All Elite Wrestling on the prowl with lucrative contracts.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter's latest report on the contract status of the Hardys has given some degree of clarity on the situation.
In case you didn't know...
Jeff Hardy has been having a decent run as a singles competitor down at SmackDown Live as Matt Hardy's body recuperates from various injuries he has suffered over the years.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
The Woken One had earlier teased retiring from wrestling altogether but seems to have changed his mind now. Matt recently revealed that his body feels incredible as a result of the time off and that he is currently lighter than he has been in almost twenty years.
Matt has been reportedly cleared to return to in-ring action and could possibly make his comeback during the Royal Rumble match. However, the contracts of the 8-time Tag Team Champion is set to be up soon and Meltzer disclosed the next possible plan of action.
The heart of the matter
The veteran pro wrestling journalist reported that the Hardys are not expected to quit the WWE and should extend their respective contracts for another year.
The one-year extension comes with a solid rise in pay and should be enough to keep AEW scouts at bay. WWE may be well aware of Cody Rhodes and co. wanting to rekindle the Young Bucks/ Hardy Boyz rivalry and will do anything to keep the legendary tag team on their payroll for the foreseeable future.
What's next?
Jeff Hardy is a confirmed entrant in the Royal Rumble match and it would be interesting to see whether his twisted brother follows suit and returns at the PPV on January 27th.
As things stand, however, the Hardy Boyz are reportedly here to stay for another year.
