WWE Rumors: Wrestlemania match between John Cena and Daniel Bryan has been discussed

Could Cena stick around longer if a championship match was in the cards?

What's the story?

With WrestleMania season heating up, speculation turns to who will square off with whom at WrestleMania 35 in April.

Slice Wrestling recently tweeted that a potential match between John Cena and Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship is being discussed for WrestleMania 35.

In case you missed it . . .

Daniel Bryan has knocked off AJ Styles in their last two matches. He will defend the WWE Championship against Styles for the second time at the Royal Rumble on January 27th.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Outside of Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio, there are few options on the SmackDown roster who could conceivably challenge the New Daniel Bryan in April.

Could another huge match between Bryan and John Cena be on the cards? The two had a huge match at SummerSlam in 2013 where Bryan defeated Cena for the World Heavyweight Championship.

The heart of the matter

A few ideas have emerged over the past couple days regarding potential WrestleMania 35 opponents for the leader of Cenation.

Lars Sullivan was pegged for a big match with Cena prior to his debut, but since Sullivan has had issues with anxiety lately, that match and angle might be off the table.

Slice Wrestling recently sent out a tweet stating that a potential showdown between Daniel Bryan and John Cena might be the match for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35.

The report mentions that is being discussed, which still means that the plans for each man can change between now and April.

If Sullivan is able to kick off a potential angle with Cena next week, then this might have been a back-up option.

WWE could simply go with this match and kick off the storyline of Cena breaking his own and Ric Flair's record of 16 World Championship reigns.

The dynamic has certainly changed since their last big match in 2014 with Bryan now a condescending heel and Cena still a face.

What's next?

A big thing to watch for next week is whether or not Sullivan returns to WWE and makes his main-roster debut.

If he doesn't, then another match for Cena at Wrestlemania will likely start to gain more steam. Sullivan's main-roster arrival was heavily promoted but he has yet to appear on either Raw or SmackDown.

The report mentioned that a Bryan/Cena match was 'being discussed, but not finalized'. That means that nothing is set in stone regarding WrestleMania opponents for both Cena and Bryan.

Next week's shows and also the Royal Rumble should hopefully provide more clarity for everyone involved.
