What's the story?
As per the Rumor Roundup on Cagesideseats.com, it is being reported that Kevin Owens will make his return as a member of the SmackDown roster, even though he was last seen on RAW.
In case you didn't know...
Kevin Owens had been drafted to RAW as part of the Superstar Shakeup in 2018. Owens has been out of action ever since he was assaulted by Bobby Lashley on an episode of RAW. While the "injury" he sustained due to that attack was kayfabe, the former Universal Champion needed time off to get surgeries for both his knees.

Kevin Owens had portrayed a heel character ever since he arrived in WWE, but it looked like WWE turned his face with the assault he received at the hands of The Almighty.
WWE has recently been airing vignettes featuring Owens, although no exact time or date of his return is being mentioned.
The heart of the matter
There have been rumours that WWE is planning to have Kevin Owens challenge The New Daniel Bryan for his WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 35. In order for that to happen, it is essential that the former US Champion makes his return on the Blue Brand to start a feud with the Vegan Warrior.
While the move to Smackdown makes sense on some accounts, it will still leave his feud with Bobby Lashley open-ended.

What's next?
Wrestlemania will be taking place in April, so WWE doesn't have much time to build a feud around Owens and Bryan, especially considering that the current WWE Champion is currently in a program with the fan-favourite Kofi Kingston.
Kofi Kingston will face Daniel Bryan at Fastlane, so it is possible that Kevin Owens might make his return at the PPV itself.
