As the world still hasn't recovered from the shock, following the brutal assaults by Brock Lesnar over Randy Orton at Summerslam, the rumour mill has already been kept buzzing over Lesnar’s next opponent.
After all, the Goldberg speculation finally came to an end on Sunday, when the former WCW Champion failed to turn up in Brooklyn. However, a new storyline has started to emerge within the company, saying the WWE is working towards a Shane McMahon vs Brock Lesnar match, probably for next year’s Royal Rumble.
Now many wonder where does this new storyline come from? If we rewind the brutal main event on Sunday, Brock Lesnar made people believe that WWE was real by dismantling Randy Orton with real elbows on his forehead.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
After the match was stopped, two medics attempted to treat Randy Orton amidst Lesnar’s persistent attacks. The commissioner of SmackDown Live, Shane Mcmahon hustled to the ring to stop the vicious actions by Lesnar and try to put an end to the situation.
Shane maybe felt that his position of authority would provide him a little security in the face of the Beast Incarnate. But he was wrong as Lesnar scooped and charged him with a thunderous F-5.
Whilst the brand split is still fairly fresh, Shane's appearance is surely leading to something bigger down the road. He hasn’t been in the action since the exceptional showdown against the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, however, the 46-year-old recently spoke about his interest in wrestling, if the right storyline occurs.
With what WWE has a tendency to run through in the modern age, Shane McMahon vs. Brock Lesnar is all of a sudden a match that seems likely to happen in the future.
After the assaults Shane reacted to the situation on Twitter, saying Lesnar went over the line. He tweeted the following after the SummerSlam event on Sunday
Also, the rumours are circulating that Brock Lesnar will go head to head against Chris Jericho after the two were reportedly involved in a backstage altercation at WWE SummerSlam following the controversial TKO finish.
As seen on WWE Raw tonight, commissioner Stephanie McMahon stated there will be repercussions for Lesnar crossing the line with the F-5 to SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon. Following on that, Stephanie has imposed a $500 fine on the Beast Incarnate for his actions at the pay-per-view.
However, Shane-O-Mac was not impressed by the sanction put on Lesnar by his sister and insisted that the “thing between him and Brock Lesnar is far from over”.
Again, now this is a full-fledged part of the storyline, and it will be interesting to see what direction they take it from here.
