Ever since Triple H pedigreed both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins to help Kevin Owens win the Universal Championship last week on Raw, fans have been eager to find out what the main event of Clash of Champions, the next Raw-exclusive pay-per-view, will be. They may have just got their answer. Local advertising in Indianapolis has shown that the main event of Clash of Champions will be Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins for the Universal Title, as seen in these two posters tweeted out by a number of fans below:
As seen in one of the posters, it will be Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship, with Triple H in Kevin Owen’s corner and possibly Mick Foley and/or Stephanie McMahon in Seth Rollins’ corner. Although this poster will not make Roman Reign’s fans happy, as he has potentially been shunted out of the picture, it will make those fans who predicted this matchup quite excited.
Not only will this be an awesome main event, in my opinion, it could also cement Rollins as the next top face on Raw, replacing the injured Finn Balor who was poised for that position. Although I would rather prefer the main event with no authoritarian involvement, the way the story has been developing so far points both Triple H and the GM and Commissioner being key players in this Owens-Rollins feud.
From my knowledge, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins have never been infused in a rivalry before or even had a match on WWE TV, although I’m sure they met on the independent scene as Kevin Steen and Tyler Black respectively. If Rollins is indeed turning face, it will mark his first run as a face since the Shield broke up in June of 2014. Ironically, one of the men he faced in his last match as a face was Triple H, who he now looks poised to feud with over the next few months heading into Wrestlemania 33.
For now, let’s just enjoy a first time ever Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins rivalry. Thanks for reading, constructive criticism in the comments is always welcomed.
