Two years after CM Punk’s unceremonious exit, WWE may have finally found a replacement for the Former WWE Champion in its latest signing, Tommy End.
The comparisons stem from the stark similarities between the two. Tommy’s tattoo-clad appearance and a minimally muscular physique bears resemblance to that of Punk, and interestingly, the 31-year-old Dutch wrestler also holds another common trait with Punk.
Tommy’s skill-set is a perfect balance of mixed-martial arts, kicks and high-flying maneuvers, which is quite similar to that of Punk. As a matter of fact, Tommy is a better a worker in between the ropes if you scrutinize things carefully. New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
CM Punk played the anti-hero’s role to perfection and gave WWE the authenticity they lacked in its scripted realm. Whether or not Tommy has it in him to recreate, or even better, carve out a niche for himself in his own distinct way is to be seen. The fact that he sports an anti-hero tattoo on his knuckle makes it even more legit.
When it comes to Punk, the longest reigning WWE Champion’s departure has undoubtedly left a glaring void in the WWE as the fans still chant his name voraciously when they find the product to be too stale or a match and segment too drab. He possessed the right blend of charisma, in-ring credentials, and some breathtaking promo skills to make it to the very top of the WWE.
His MMA experiment didn’t pan out the way he’d envisioned, as he was finished in the very first round by Mickey Gall a UFC 203. UFC President Dana White has claimed that Punk’s next fight may not be in the UFC, as Punk still has a long way to go before he thinks about hanging with the best fighters inside the Octagon.
An uncertain UFC future has naturally given rise to the rumors of his WWE return, which he has vehemently denied time and again. Instead of waiting for Punk to make a shocking Goldberg-esque return, WWE could build up End as the next Punk in a unique way.
It all comes down to Tommy to live up to the envious tag of being viewed as the next CM Punk. Does he have it in him to do it? Let us know in the comments section below.
