Chris Jericho’s latest edition of “Talk is Jericho”, Jericho’s podcast series, had Cody Rhodes as a guest and he revealed a shocking rumour about Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins. Rhodes said that back when Ryder and Hawkins were known as the “Edge heads”, they were rumoured by the locker room to be ‘Pecker Checkers’, which refers to the act of checking out other WWE superstar’s private parts while they were showering.
Rhodes claimed Randy Orton was the one who told him this was true. This leaked backstage rumour must be very embarrassing for the current WWE superstar Ryder, and when asked by Jericho if he was actually a pecker checker, Zack denied it. This is also not good timing for Hawkins, who’s return to WWE (specifically SmackDown Live) has been hyped up for the past few weeks. The SmackDown Live male roster should be worried, as the Edge Heads will be reunited and could be checking more ‘peckers’ in the near future, especially with Orton, the one who told Rhodes in the first place, currently being a member of the Smackdown Live roster.
Ryder and Hawkins served as the Edge Heads between 2007 and 2008, and managed to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships at the Great American Bash on July 20th 2008, becoming the youngest tag team champions in WWE history at that time. Since splitting, Ryder went on to win the United States and Intercontinental Title respectively and has been seen as one of the most underutilised wrestlers of the last few years, managing to get himself over in 2012 without even appearing on WWE television. Hawkins, on the other hand, was sent back to FCW after the duo split up and went on to team with Vance Archer as The Gatecrashers and team with Tyler Reks. After a forgettable run in NXT, Hawkins returned to the independent scene, working for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Pro Wrestling Syndicate and Global Force Wrestling.
Now back in WWE due to the brand split as a part of Smackdown Live, it will be interesting to see if WWE have a potential return of Hawkins and Ryder as a tag team on their minds.
