R-Truth is one of the longest-serving wrestlers in WWE who has worked on and off for the company on multiple occasions.
After losing his #30 spot in the Royal Rumble to Nia Jax, which he had earned after winning the Mixed Match Challenge, Truth was rewarded with a shot at the United States Champion.
Not only did Truth win the championship after awkwardly beating Shinsuke Nakamura, but he also went on to defend the title against Rusev on the same night, and put on another terrible match to defend his championship.
One wonders why WWE went ahead and put the title on R-Truth rather than many other deserving men like Andrade, Mustafa Ali, Samoa Joe, or one of the members of The New Day.
If this was done for humor, then we already have Shane McMahon and The Miz as new tag team partners. If this was done to open up the mid-card, then many other deserving superstars should have done the job.
Hence the question remains, why did WWE crown R-Truth the new US Champion?
