WWE SmackDown: 3 things we secretly learned on the show after Super ShowDown (June 11, 2019)

The star power was sky-high on SmackDown this week

The better matches at Super ShowDown which included superstars such as Andrade, Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Dolph Ziggler, and Kofi Kingston all originated from the SmackDown brand. This shows exactly how much talent the blue brand’s roster has.

The wave of new talent coming in has also provided WWE a lot of new direction and potential, but they are yet to exploit it to the fullest and gain the maximum benefit. The 24/7 Championship, however, has given WWE some chance to ensure that the newer superstars stay in the mix.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

On this week’s SmackDown, there were a lot of hints and clues in the segments that unfolded which have given us a taste of what might come in the future.

In this article, we take a look at the 3 things we learned from this week’s SmackDown, and what it might mean for the future of the superstars involved and the storylines.

#3 Elias will remain a mid-card superstar

For months we’ve been expecting Elias to somehow break the shackles and become a top superstar on either the Raw or SmackDown brand. Elias has gotten some high profile matches in recent months and even competed against top superstars at major pay-per-views. However, the outcome of his matches has largely remained the same throughout.

When Elias first broke onto the scene, it seemed as though Vince will push in considering his looks, physique, and mic skills. This did not immediately happen, though he became a popular superstar on television.

After being termed SmackDown’s Greatest Acquisition, it was expected he would finally get his big break. Even though hopes were up, the creatives punched them down. Even last night, Elias walked down with Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre on SmackDown but was the only one among the three men to lose his match.

It seems like the WWE Universe should leave any hope they have for the talented superstar, and continue to see him as just another jobber for the elites.

#2 Aleister Black could get a major push

When Aleister Black first emerged on to the main roster alongside Ricochet, he was expected to become one of the top mid-card superstars. The duo immediately became the most electric tag team on the main roster and got tag team title matches sooner than most tag teams get televised matches.

Now that the two have been separated, Ricochet has been receiving a decent push and is already involved in the United States Championship picture.

Black, on the other hand, has had more promos than matches where he has made his intentions very clear. He wants someone to dare and come out to challenge him to a match.

The quality of his promos and the frequency now suggest that WWE might actually be interested in promoting the former NXT Champion and taking him to the top soon.

With the wrestling talent that Black possess, it would be a shame if the creatives let this opportunity go to waste as Black is fresh off a highly successful NXT run and fans are expecting him to make it big on the main roster.

#1 Shane McMahon could have a high-stakes match soon

Shane McMahon returned to in-ring competition at Crown Jewel last year and has remained in the spotlight after winning the WWE World Cup and being named The Best in The World.

Shane has managed to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championships alongside The Miz and got into some good rivalries with The Miz and Roman Reigns. With Drew McIntyre and Elias by his side, we were expecting that Shane would soon stop competing and instead push these highly talented men forward. However, that hasn’t happened yet.

If Shane wants to actually do some good for a superstar’s career, and also go out on a high, this is the perfect time for him as he is in the spotlight.

Will Shane allows someone like McIntyre or Elias to end his career with a high-profile match at SummerSlam? Things can get very interesting if Shane does plan to push one of the superstars he’s taking along with him.
