There will come a time on the WWE SmackDown brand when Roman Reigns has run out of contenders to face for the WWE Universal Championship when Big E will be next in line. Prior to that Big E could be involved in yet another massive feud on WWE SmackDown where he takes on Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship too.
Whatever the case may be, Big E has a very prosperous future on WWE SmackDown and his singles run could even eclipse that of Kofi Kingston when the time is right. So, the future is not necessarily bleak for him after the dissolution of The New Day.
