Two weeks ago on WWE SmackDown, Murphy took on King Corbin in a singles match. The contest received a lot of criticism because the Mysterio family teamed up to cost King Corbin the victory. There was an outcry online wondering if King Corbin was a babyface or a heel based on his actions during the course of the match.
Honestly can't really complain but I do question why Mysterios were playing roles of heels more than faces, it felt weird. https://t.co/vIpHk6N6EQ

And so, to even the odds against the Mysterios (Rey, Dominik, and Aalyah,) The Forgotten Sons have been brought into the mix. Their presence makes it seem like the babyfaces do not have the upper hand against the heels. The last thing that WWE would want is for fans to develop a sense of kinship and sympathy for King Corbin, who was fighting fair in this contest.
Neither would they want the audience to turn on their beloved babyface Rey Mysterio. The addition of these two mysterious, and yet familiar, men would just even the odds for King Corbin against the Mysterio family. As a result, he can be the heel he's meant to be.
