A lot of things that sound good on paper can somehow turn out to be disappointing. Take into consideration the match between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura, which should have been a great match at WrestleMania last year, but it turned out to be a real dud, all said and done honestly.
Kurt Angle is no longer the young man who put on all those classic matches in WWE and TNA. He is a grizzled veteran who's well past his prime and while he can still go, this match would not have been the showcase that a lot of fans were expecting it to be.
Which is why WWE probably wanted the match to end before it was exposed as another underwhelming contest. I suppose anyone that wants to catch Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles in their prime can just watch their TNA matches.
It is what it is.
