WWE SmackDown: 5 Reasons why Vince McMahon may have split Daniel Bryan & Rowan

The main event segment of SmackDown was an interesting one
The main event segment of SmackDown was an interesting one

A lot of praise has deservedly come WWE's way for scripting a storyline that many were invested in, on the blue brand. It was a typical Eric Bischoff whodunit, a storyline that stretched out over weeks regarding the vicious attacks on Roman Reigns' life and well-being.

This week, in the main event segment, Erick Rowan was revealed as the perpetrator of the vicious attacks and it was then revealed that Daniel Bryan had nothing to do with them. This would lead to a segment where Daniel Bryan was first shoved by Rowan and then driven through a commentary table.

So, why was the decision made to end this alliance? I have a few theories and I will list them in this article, for your reading pleasure.

If you have any comments and opinions, feel free to voice them in the comments section.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

#5 To not be a sidekick anymore

Erick Rowan was one of Bray Wyatt's most trusted lieutenants but that's all he was, in the group. Luke Harper went on to achieve gold and glory as a singles star and so did Braun Strowman, to a much greater degree. Rowan was just a sidekick in the Wyatt family and little more, sadly.

And then came the Bludgeon Brothers where everyone called Luke Harper the next big thing and wanted him to break away from Rowan, who was dragging him down, according to them. Rowan was also Daniel Bryan's sidekick in the newest storyline and he hardly had a role until the tag team run with Bryan.

When he unleashed his attacks on Bryan, in retaliation for the slaps, it was a breaking of the shackles for him. Let's see just how far he can go as a singles performer in the roster!

#4 To shine the spotlight on the actual tag teams

Right now, on RAW, the tag team titles rest around the waists of Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins. An absolutely stacked roster of tag teams has nothing to do at all when they should be taking each other on for the prestigious titles. And as we've seen on social media, there's a whole bunch of fans that don't seem too happy with this decision at all, really.

On the other hand, you have AEW bring in teams like LAX, while Lucha Bros and The Young Bucks put on matches that blow the mind completely! Therefore, it is necessary to not repeat the same on SmackDown Live. At least on the blue brand, The New Day and The Revival are likely in the title picture for now.

Inserting Bryan and Rowan into the tag team title picture again would have just decreased the morale of the locker room completely, which is why Vince McMahon probably split them up so that both men can go their separate ways.

#3 The injury to Lars Sullivan and the need for a monster

When Lars Sullivan first came into the roster, he was bullying Superstars to no end, embarrassing and belittling them to no end with his antics. And then, right when he was on the verge of a push, he got injured and WWE has sought a monster ever since.

Braun Strowman is the main guy on RAW while Drew McIntyre has never really been treated like a monster, as such. He sells like any other WWE Superstar does and does not really compete like a big man, such as The Undertaker or Kane would.

WWE has the opportunity to fill this void with Rowan, a man who is a behemoth in his own right, who proved this week that he also has the verbal skills to back it up. Whoever knew that he was such a brilliant talker?

WWE could have done the right thing by grooming him to be a monster.

#2 To let Daniel Bryan create a new star

Very few people realize this, but Daniel Bryan is a star-maker in his own unique way. Remember the fact that he allowed both Ali and Buddy Murphy to pin him, one of the biggest stars of the current era of WWE. In every match, Daniel Bryan makes his opponent shine and showcase his skills in the best possible manner, putting him over very strongly indeed.

Bryan has the opportunity to do the same with Rowan in this case, because Rowan is someone who has all the tools to become the monster of the blue brand but hasn't had a program that would allow him to do so. Now, there's a storyline in place where he and Daniel Bryan could have an extended feud, and the latter could portray him as a dominant Superstar by just bumping around.

Let us acknowledge it! Daniel Bryan is a genius and then some.

#1 To bring Luke Harper back into the mix again

When you have someone as talented as Luke Harper as a part of the roster and he doesn't have a spot, there's something wrong with the whole thing. Now, the way that things have lined up, it is pretty clear that Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan may team up down the line to do away with the threat of Rowan down the line.

This could be a great way to reunite the Bludgeon Brothers once again. Hopefully, this time they don't don the cheesy outfits that became synonymous with them and they appear as serious heels, out to cause destruction.

Harper is someone who should have been a much bigger star than he is right now. There must be a reason why his contract was extended.

Would you potentially like to see the Bludgeon Brothers return or maybe reunite in a new Wyatt Family?
