I think that it's only a matter of time before Braun Strowman becomes the next WWE Intercontinental Champion. And when he does, bringing the reign of Shinsuke Nakamura to an unfortunate end, he will need a strong opponent for WrestleMania.
There is arguably no better opponent for the man right now than The Miz, who's made it his life's mission, quite vocally, to elevate the WWE Intercontinental Championship. This is a title that is associated with him and The Miz has always done a commendable job in making whatever program he's in very prestigious.

The Miz may not naturally be a strong opponent for Braun Strowman but one cannot dispute that with John Morrison by his side, he'll certainly be a formidable player. This may be the route that WWE wants to go with The Miz, after the tag team run.
