#1 WWE Title has become an afterthought of sorts
This is perhaps the most worrying sign about the WWE Title. The Championship is supposed to be the most prestigious title that the company has to offer and yet, it now feels more like an afterthought more than anything else.
It is difficult to remember the last time the belt featured in the main event match in a PPV. In fact, Kofi Kingston hasn’t even had a main event match as the WWE Champion in any of the PPVs following WrestleMania.
If that alone wasn’t bad enough then the last few episodes of SmackDown Live takes the cake.
Last week’s episode of SmackDown Live featured Roman Reigns in the main event. This week’s episode, too, closed with Roman Reigns’ storyline. The feud for the WWE Title got a spot right in the middle of the episode, sandwiched between King of the Ring matches.
Even the match between Aleister Black and Shelton Benjamin took place after the segment between Orton and Kingston, which goes to show that the title has become somewhat of an afterthought and it might be time that it changes hands.
