SmackDown Live comes to us from Ottawa tonight as the men and women of the blue brand remain in the Great White North as we get all the fallout from Survivor Series 2016. What’s the situation with Shane McMahon’s health? Will Baron Corbin face any consequences? What’s the next step in Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles‘ rivalry?
Shane McMahon addresses the WWE Universe
Meet John Cena's dad HERE
Shane McMahon came out first to address the WWE Universe bearing a few scars from the battle at Survivor Series. Shane congratulates Team SmackDown for winning the men’s Survivor Series match and gives pros to the members of Team Raw for bringing the fight.
Shane McMahon is joined by Dean Ambrose in the ring and Shane says that they won despite him helping Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins send AJ Styles through a table. Dean calls out the man he says helped eliminate the monster Braun Strowman, James Ellsworth. Dean announces that they have a surprise for Ellsworth – a full-time WWE contract.
Shane then tells Dean that he can have the rest of the night off because he’d been out of control in recent days. As Dean walked out of the arena, AJ Styles’ music hit. Styles said that Ellsworth didn’t deserve to be in the WWE unlike him so he challenged Ellsworth to a ladder match with his contract on the line. If Ellsworth won he’d also win a future WWE Championship match.
Miz is backstage with Daniel Bryan. Bryan congratulates The Miz before telling him that he would be defending his WWE Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown Live against Kalisto and his match would be next.
The Miz (C) vs Kalisto (for the WWE Intercontinental Championship)
Miz tried to keep Kalisto grounded in the opening stages of this match but Kalisto’s speed helped him stay ahead of The Miz in the opening stages. Kalisto went for a couple of roll-ups early on as Miz rolled out of the ring. Kalisto then hit a tope suicida as we headed to a commercial.
We come back from commercial to see The Miz going for a slingshot powerbomb but Kalisto reverses into a hurracanrana followed by a roll-up. We then see Baron Corbin come out of the crowd and get on the apron.
Kalisto hits Corbin with an Enzeguiri but The Miz took advantage to hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win.

#1 Contender’s Tag-Team Turmoil
The match begins with The Hype Bros and The Ascension. The Ascension blindside Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder to start us off. They take Mojo out at ringside and start working on Zack Ryder. The Ascension rotate tags quickly to stay on top before Zack Ryder hits a double neckbreaker.
The Hype Bros follow it up with a Hype Rider to eliminate The Ascension.
The Ascension are eliminated
Breezango came in next and are immediately sent flying out of the ring and Ryder follows it up with a dive to the outside as the Hype Bros take control.
Zack Ryder hit Tyler Breeze with a missile dropkick as we came back from the commercial. He then went for a Hype Ryder but Breeze avoided it and hit a slingshot into a forearm followed by a leg drop from Fandango for the pin.
Hype Bros are eliminated
American Alpha come in next and Breezango try to take the fight to them immediately by isolating Chad Gable but Gable quickly rolls up Fandango for the pinfall.
Breezango are eliminated
The Vaudevillains run in for their chance to contend for the Tag-Team Championships but Jason Jordan immediately hits a pinning German Suplex on Aiden English to eliminate the Vaudevillians.
The Vaudevillians are eliminated
The Usos are in next as we head back to commercial. They isolated Jason Jordan during the commercial and were all over him as we came back from the break. The Usos continued to isolate Jordan till Jordan capitalised from a gaffe to make the tag to Chad gable.
Gable comes in and cleans house till he’s sent face-first into the ring post. Jimmy Uso then went for a Frog Splash on Jordan who gets his knees up and goes for the pinfall. We then get a Chopblock by Jey Uso on Jason Jordan connects and Jimmy attempts to go for a superkick. However, Jordan avoids it and Chad Gable comes in, the two connect with a Grand Amplitude on Jimmy Uso to pin him.
American Alpha eliminate The Usos to win
Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton come on the titantron and challenge American Alpha to a match next week. Whoever wins that match will be the new #1 contenders.
Natalya vs Becky Lynch
Alexa Bliss is on commentary for this one. Becky and Natalya go toe-to-toe as the match kicks off before Becky looked to take the upperhand with a series of punches and uppercuts. Natalya then hit back with a brutal powerbomb for the nearfall.
We came back from commercial to see Becky in a submission hold but Becky fought out and hit back. She hit a lariat followed by an Exploder Suplex before being sent face first into the turnbuckle by Natalya. Natalya tried to capitalise by locking in the Sharpshooter but Becky reversed it into a Disarmer to make Natalya tap out.

Alexa Bliss attacked Becky from behind after the match to lay her out.
We see the Miz and Maryse backstage with Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan tells Miz that him and Dolph Ziggler would go their separate ways soon but after one last match at TLC – a ladder match.
Kane vs Baron Corbin
Kane and Baron Corbin square off as Corbin looks to isolate Kane in the corner. Kane overpowers Corbin who swiftly runs out of the ring only to be followed by Kane. Corbin runs back into the and sent Kane crashing out when he tried to re-enter.
Suddenly, Kalisto appeared out of nowhere and hit Corbin with a dropkick from behind for the disqualification as Kane came back in to deliver a chokeslam to Corbin.
Baron Corbin wins by DQ
Kalisto attacked Corbin after the match and hit a spinning heel kick into a chair that Corbin was holding.
AJ Styles vs James Ellsworth (Ladder Match for James Ellsworth’s WWE contract)
AJ Styles starts off by taking off Ellsworth’s protective neck brace before throwing him out of the ring. Styles then went and got a ladder which he set up and proceeded to climb. Ellsworth tried holding onto Styles’ foot but got swatted away as Styles climbed down and proceeded to punish Ellsworth.
Styles hit Ellsworth with a nasty backbreaker before trapping him under the ladder, slapping him in the face and climbing up the ladder. As Styles reached the top, Ambrose came back into the ring wearing a mask and an Ottawa Senators jersey to take Styles out.
Ambrose then tried to prop Ellsworth up by Styles hit Ambrose with a Phenomenal Forearm. Styles then tried climbing up the ladder again but Ellsworth pushed the ladder and sent Styles crashing out onto the unforgiving floor outside the ring.
AJ tried climbing back into the ring but Ellsworth hit him with a Superkick that somehow caused Styles’ foot to get caught up in the bottom rope. Ellsworth took advantage to climb up the ladder and earn his WWE contract and future title opportunity.
