Dean Ambrose had a ball as the special guest referee

#7 James Ellsworth vs AJ Styles with Dean Ambrose as the special guest referee

James Ellsworth beat Dean Ambrose

Following the explosive announcement by Bryan, Ambrose does not waste a single minute and grabs hold of the referee and takes his shirt to get the match underway. Styles, as expected, has all the early momentum as he treats Ellsworth to a series of kicks punches and headlocks.

Ellsworth then goes on a marathonesque run around the ring with Styles chasing him but the World Champion is tripped by Ambrose while he was in pursuit. The Lunatic Fringe was doing an excellent job to instigate The Phenomenal One and he continued on his mission by picking up a call when Ellsworth had tapped out to a calf crusher from Styles, thereby ignoring the submission.

A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.

Ambrose then starts engaging with fans on the ringside, which further angers Styles and he nails the Styles Clash on Ellsworth and pins him for 1, 2..... Ambrose stops counting after 2 and stares at Styles before hitting him with Dirty Deeds. He then pulls Ellsworth over Styles and starts counting but the champion kicks out. The Lunatic Fringe then nails another Dirty Deeds on Styles and puts Ellsworth’s hands over the champion for the 3-count.

James Ellsworth has just defeated the WWE World Champion. I repeat – James Ellsworth has just defeated the WWE World Champion.

Result: James Ellsworth def. AJ Styles via pinfall (Dean Ambrose special guest referee)

Following the show at Talking Smack, it was announced by Daniel Bryan that James Ellsworth will compete against AJ Styles for the WWE World Championship.
