WWE SmackDown Results 13th September 2016, Full Show Match Updates and Video Highlights

WWE SmackDown Live! came to us live from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following the interesting turn of events at BackLash, which saw 3 new champions crowned, it will be interesting to see how WWE follows it up at SmackDown Live.

Here are the complete WWE SmackDown Results for 13th September 2016:


#1 John Cena returns

John Cena made his much-awaited return to the WWE at SmackDown Live! interrupting newly crowned WWE World Champion AJ Styles' celebrations. The Leader of Cenation highlighted he was here to take something that belonged to him and no, he wasn’t talking about his armband that The Phenomenal One has been carrying.

He was talking about the WWE World Championship as he has now set his eye on levelling Ric Flair’s record of 16 World Titles – Cena is currently on 15.

Dean Ambrose joins the fray and calls Styles’ low blow at BackLash as the biggest mistake of The Phenomenal One’s life. The trio are then involved in a heated exchange calling out each other when Shane McMahon makes his way to the ring.

Shane-O-Mac expresses his disappointment at Styles winning the championship courtesy of a low blow and also revealed that he was fed up of The Phenomenal One calling himself – The face that runs the place. He announces that the trio will compete at the main event in No Mercy in a triple threat match for the WWE World Championship.

He also announced that Ambrose and Cena will team up to take on Styles and an unknown partner in a tag-team match at tonight’s main event.

#2 The Usos vs. The Hype Bros

Following the win of The Usos against The Hype Bros at BackLash, a rematch between the two was organized. Zack Ryder and Jey Uso start the match inside the ring and The Samoan twins have the advantage early on.

Mojo Rowley is then tagged in, who takes out The Usos with a corner splash. However, Jey then takes out Ryder as Jimmy lands a Superkick on Rowley. Jey follows it with a frog splash and pins Rowley for the 3-count.

Result: The Usos beat The Hype Bros by pinfall

#3 Dolph Ziggler wants rematch against The Miz

The Miz successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler at BackLash with help from wife Maryse, as the 2-time Divas Champions sprayed something into the eyes of the Show Off to help her husband hit Skull Crushing Finale before pinning Ziggler for the win.

After The Miz and Maryse made their way to the middle of the ring Ziggler interfered and asked for a rematch considering that he unfairly lost to The Miz at Sunday’s pay-per-view. The two trash talk each other before Daniel Bryan’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring

The SmackDown Live! General Manager said that The Miz will have to face Ziggler in a rematch, but the Intercontinental Champion insisted that he now calls his own shots and will not be defending his title until a new contract is negotiated.

The Miz along with his wife Maryse walk away from the ring and into the crowd.


#4 Apollo Crews vs. Baron Corbin

After their surprise match at BackLash, Crews and Corbin were set to face each other once again. However, Corbin attacked Crews before the match and injured him in the process, forcing the referee to call off the match.

Result: Match called off


Jack Swagger joins SmackDown Live!

Corbin stays in the ring and is smiling when Jack Swagger’s music hits and the former Raw Superstar makes his way to the ring. He announces that he will be joining the blue brand and insisted that the fans haven’t witnessed all that he is capable of. This is an extention of Raw, where it was announced that Swagger’s contract with the red-brand was up.

#5 Nikki Bella vs Naomi vs Natalya vs Alexa Bliss vs Carmella (#1 contender match for SmackDown Women’s Championship)

Following BackLash’s Six Pack match , which Becky Lynch won to become the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion, a Fatal-5-Way match was announced to become the number one contender for The Irish Lass Kicker’s Championship.

Naomi, Natalya, Alexa Bilss, Carmella and Nikki Bella were all in what a shot at becoming the #1 contender for SmackDown Women’s Championship. Bella speared Carmella, while Natalya, Naomi and Alexa Bliss clash as the bell is rung.

Natalya gains momentum after taking out Nikki before hitting Snap Suplexes to both Bella and Bliss and followed it with a bodyslam on Naomi. Naomi is then seen working on Nikki for a while hitting a spinning kick before following it with head scissors in one of the corners. Alexa enters the fray and is hit by an enzeguiri by Naomi but Nikki does not let her gain the momentum and nails a Bella Buster.

Naomi is then on the end of some beating by Natalya first followed by Nikki. Nikki then lines up Alexa for the TKO but is instead welcomed by a Superkick from Carmella. Alexa throws The Princess of Staten Island outside of the ring before covering Nikki for the win.

Result: Alexa Bliss beat Nikki Bella and Naomi and Natalya and Carmella via pinfall to become the #1 contender for SmackDown Women’s Championship

#6 Heath Slater signs SmackDown Live! contract

After weeks of running around looking for his SmackDown Live! contract Heath Slater has finally earned the opportunity after winning the Tag Team Championship with Rhyno at BackLash.

The duo make their way to the ring amidst huge cheers and Shane-O-Mac is present to hand Slater his new contract. Slater then raises the contract to the crowd before signing it amidst huge roars from the crowd.

The celebration is interrupted by The Ascension, who want a match for the Tag Team Championship and Shane agrees to it.

Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. The Ascension for SmackDown Tag-Team Championship

The Ascension double team to work on Slater at one corner of the ring before he breaks free and hot-tags his partner, Rhyno. Rhyno is on a roll and sends Konnor crashing into the ring post before nailing the spine buster on him.

He takes out Viktor before nailing the Gore on Konnor and pins him for the 3-count. Heath Slater and Rhyno are successful in their first title defence and the crowd goes wild.

Result: Heath Slater and Rhyno defeat The Ascension via pinfall

#7 Randy Orton calls out Bray Wyatt

Randy Orton, who didn’t face Bray Wyatt at BackLash after been not given the green light by the medical team having failed an Impact Concussion Test, made his way to the ring and called out The Eater of Worlds to face him. He cuts a promo and adds that Bray is afraid of him and insists that this was the reason why The New Face of Fear attacked The Viper backstage at BackLash.

Bray then appears on the titantron and delivers a Sermon of his own. He asks Randy to not fall asleep and the lights are cut. When the lights return Wyatt is seen ringside.

Orton calls Wyatt inside the ring as the lights fade out again and when it returns Eric Rowan is seen standing behind Orton in the ring. Rowan attack The Viper from behind, but Orton fights back and delivers the RKO Outta Nowhere.

#8 AJ Styles and James Ellsworth vs. John Cena and Dean Ambrose

AJ Styles was asked to find a partner for his Tag-Team match against Dean Ambrose and John Cena. After The Phenomenal One failed to find any partner, Daniel Bryan assigned a rookie named James Ellsworth to be his partner.

However, after Styles made his way to the ring and Ellsworth was on his way, The Miz attacked Ellsworth from behind and used the jobber to send a message to Bryan. Miz then hits the Skull Crushing Finale on the rookie before joining Styles for the match.

The Miz and John Cena kick us off and The Miz looks like he's on fire. We haven't seen this vicious side of Miz often as The Miz delivers a devastating DDT on John Cena. John Cena is sent reeling to the corner and AJ Styles delivers and enzeguiri from the apron.

Miz misses a trademark jumping corner which allows Cena to tag Ambrose in. Ambrose is all over Styles and delivers a swinging backbreaker and a top rope elbow drop for the 2 count.

Ambrose goes for a clothesline but Styles ducks and delivers a Pelle Kick as we head into a commercial break. Ambrose and Miz are going at it as we come back from the commercial break. Miz delivers a double axehandle from the top rope as the frustration is clear on Cena's face. Miz tags Styles in who delivers a cheap shot to Cena immediately.

Miz chokes Ambrose in the corner as the referee is distracted by an irate Cena. Ambrose tries to go for a comeback with a few chops in the corner but Styles kicks him away.

Styles goes for his patented strike combo but Ambrose counters with a swinging neckbreaker and tags Cena in as Styles tags the Miz. Cena delivers a Five Knuckle Shuffle to the Miz followed by Ambrose taking out Styles with a tope suicida.

Cena delivers an Attitude Adjustment to The Miz and covers him....1-2-3!

As John Cena celebrates, Dean Ambrose kicks him in the gut and delivers a Dirty Deeds to the 15-time world champion, sending a message ahead of No Mercy.

Result: John Cena and Dean Ambrose beat AJ Styles and The Miz
