#1 SmackDown Tag Team Championship Tournament Match: The Vaudevillains vs. The Hype Bros
In the first match of the SmackDown Tag Team Championship Tournament, Zack Ryder and Mojo Rowley first, make their way to the ring followed by Simon Gotch and Aiden English.
English and Ryder kick off proceedings, with the latter dominating at the start. The two take the contest outside of the ring before tagging their partners in. Mojo then takes control of the situation and works on The Vaudevillains.
Soon after, all four wrestlers start working in the middle of the ring before The Hype Bros eliminate their opponent and nail a Hype Ryder on English, who is pinned for the win.
Result: The Hype Bros beat The Vaudevillains by pinfall
#2 AJ Styles vs. Apollo Crews
AJ Styles is seen backstage walking around before he meets Apollo Crews and insults him. Styles, who has John Cena’s armband wrapped around like a hairband, cuts a promo about how he is the ‘Face that runs the Place’. Crews interferes and announces that the two have a match at that very instant.
Styles starts the match by working on Crews in a corner, but Crews fights back with a dropkick. After a short spell of dominance by Crews, Styles gets the upper hand after sending Apollo into the turnbuckle.
Crews then manages to throw Styles outside of the ring before nailing a moonsault. Crews tries to up the ante but Styles is having none of it as he catches Crews mid-air and converts the crossbody into a Samoan Drop.
Styles then lands a neckbreaker and follows it with The Phenomenal Forearm, which helps him pin Crews for the win.
Result: AJ Styles defeats Apollo Crews by pinfall
Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton cut promos
Bray Wyatt is seen cutting an interesting promo talking about the voices in Orton’s head. The New Face of Fear claims that he is a god and as such fears nothing before calling Orton ‘A Damaged Man’.
The Viper then makes his way to ringside amidst huge cheers and responds to Wyatt’s jibe about him being damaged by stating that Bray had his attention. Wyatt expresses his desire to slay Orton’s head off at Backlash and the Viper accepts his challenge before making his way to the ring to hand Bray some punishment.
However, everything goes black and we head to commercials.
#3 Natalya and Alexa Bliss vs. Naomi and Becky Lynch
Nikki Bella is seen ringside with the commentary team as a six-pack challenge between the four Divas competing in the match along with Nikki and Carmella is announced for SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Alexa Bliss and Natalya are seen working on Naomi for a while, before she manages to hot-tag her partner and Becky comes in all guns blazing. Nikki is blindsided by Carmella once again.
Carmella shoves Bella into the barricade, which apparently distracts Lynch who is rolled from behind by Alexa for the 3 count.
Result: Natalya and Alexa Bliss beat Naomi and Becky Lynch by pinfall
#4 SmackDown Tag Team Championship Tournament Match: Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. The Headbangers
The Headbangers marked their return to WWE after a 16-year break on SmackDown. Mosh and Trasher work on Slater for a while and are able to prevent him from tagging in Rhyno.
The Headbangers nail a double team and pin Slater for a 2-count as Rhyno interrupts. He then pulls Slater to one corner of the ring before tagging himself in. He then Gores down Thrasher before pinning him for the win.
Result: Heath Slater and Rhyno beat The Headbangers
Gary “The Milkman” Millman infuriates Kane
Gary “The Milkman” Millman – some rookie whom nobody knows – is seen in the ring announcing to the world that he has been allowed to wrestle tonight and issues an open challenge to whoever wants to face him.
The Milkman undresses to his underwear in the middle of the ring and to his utter horror and shock, none other than Kane himself made his way to the ring. The Big Red Machine chokeslammed the rookie before making his way back.
#5 Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin
While Kane was halfway on his way back, Baron Corbin’s music hits and he makes his way, the two cross paths and then the WWE Champion enters.
Corbin is seen dominating at the start before Ambrose fights his way back into the match. The action soon shifts ringside with Ambrose sending Corbin through the announcer’s table.
Following a shift in momentum, Corbin sends Ambrose through the steel steps. Ambrose converts Corbin's clothesline into a neckbreaker. After some more work, Ambrose pins Corbin for a 2-count.
The match again shifts to ringside with the reigning champion nailing a suicide dive through the second rope. Corbin again gets the upper hand and then squares up with AJ Styles, who was the guest commentator for the match.
Ambrose takes advantage an elbow drop on his opponent from the turnbuckle. Styles attempts to his Ambrose but instead takes out Corbin as the referee goes for the bell.
The reigning champion then nails the Dirty Deeds on Corbin before he foils Styles’ attempts to deliver The Phenomenal Forearm and Styles is left hanging on the ropes. Ambrose then mocks Styles as SmackDown comes to a close.
Result: Referee calls off the match after AJ Styles intervenes
On Talking Smack, Daniel Bryan announced another match for WWE Backlash with Dolph Ziggler challenging The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship.
